Moovha
A WhatsApp-native USD and Rand wallet for cash-first users
Kuzivakwashe (Kuzi) Kurehwa and Brandon Musa
Moovha puts a wallet for US dollars and South African rand inside WhatsApp. Users can deposit cash or USDC, hold funds in either currency, convert between them, send money locally and cash out.
The product is built for people who move between cash and digital financial services, including migrants, cross-border traders and gig workers. It connects cash, e-wallets, stablecoins and mobile money through a single wallet. The company also works with partners on cash-deposit and wallet-payout routes between South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Moovha’s appeal is in bringing the steps of a money transfer into one place. For someone who uses cash and needs to move between rand and US dollars, the aim is to reduce the need to navigate separate agents, remittance providers and exchanges. WhatsApp is the interface, with stablecoin infrastructure supporting the currency movement behind it.
The company has secured a licensed Zimbabwean partner with nationwide distribution for US dollar cash deposits, as well as Zimbabwe’s largest mobile money provider for wallet payouts. These relationships are important to its plans for the South Africa–Zimbabwe corridor.
Kuzi is the CEO and co-founder of Moovha, leading business development, fundraising, regulatory coordination, partnerships and financial strategy. He received his actuarial science training from the University of Cape Town and has experience across insurance, financial modelling, risk and consulting.
As a Zimbabwean based in South Africa, Kuzi started Moovha after seeing how difficult, expensive and fragmented it remains for everyday Africans and informal traders to access, move and store USD value.
Brandon is the CTO and co-founder of Moovha, leading product, engineering and technology strategy. He is a software engineer and product builder with experience developing scalable digital platforms, automation systems and conversational commerce tools. He previously attended MIT Launch at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a programme run through the Martin Trust Center for Entrepreneurship.
Brandon started Moovha from a deep interest in DeFi and its potential to give underbanked communities better access to financial services.
