Making informal businesses financially visible

A tuckshop owner can use Ipachi Portal to record the day’s sales, check expenses, keep track of stock and see what customers owe. Ipachi Capital provides these tools to informal and small businesses, including spaza shops, street vendors, kiosks and market traders.
As owners use the platform, their everyday transactions become a structured record of how the business is performing. That gives them a clearer view of income, costs and customer credit, while building a financial history they can share with lenders and business-support organisations.
Ipachi connects a practical business habit with a financing need. Keeping reliable trading records helps an owner understand the business today and provides evidence of its activity when applying for credit. The value of that history grows as more trading activity is recorded.
For us, that link between day-to-day use and access to finance is the central opportunity. Small traders can build the information lenders need through the same tools they use to run their businesses.
Ipachi’s partnerships and engagements include CEDA, LEA, ABSA, Orange Money and MyZaka. More than half of its active users return to the platform regularly. The company has also won the Southern Africa Fintech Challenge and BoostUp Kenya, and is looking to Zambia as its next market.
Shine Monyatsi is the Founder and CEO of Ipachi Capital, a Botswana fintech building digital infrastructure that helps informal and small businesses become financially visible. He previously founded and exited Office400, an accounting software business. Shine is a Timbuktoo Fintech Accelerator alumnus and Stanford-trained Business Growth alumnus. Under his leadership, Ipachi has secured a Financial Services Provider licence, launched the Ipachi Portal and obtained a utility model for its technology.
Kutlo Omondi is the Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer at Ipachi Capital, where she leads product development and customer value strategy. She brings experience across financial services and telecommunications, including roles at Botswana Savings Bank and Orange Botswana. Her expertise spans financial product development, pricing and customer value management.
