Botsogo Jwame
Connected health records that follow the patient
Richard Seletlo and Theo Mosala are the co-founders of Botsogo Jwame. The company has been backed by African Impact Initiative and received a Diamonds Do Good entrepreneurship grant. The team has also taken part in the United People Global Entrepreneurship Program.
Botsogo Jwame connects healthcare providers and patients through a shared digital health information system. Clinics and hospitals use it to manage patient records, consultations, appointments, e-prescriptions, billing and medical-aid claims.
A patient’s medical history is available across participating providers, so it can follow them when they move between facilities. Patients can also log into a secure portal to view their own health information. For healthcare teams, the platform brings clinical records and everyday administration together, from booking an appointment to recording a consultation and submitting a claim.
Connected records give clinicians a fuller picture of a patient’s history. Botsogo Jwame addresses the repeated histories, duplicated tests and slower decisions that can arise when information is kept in paper files or disconnected systems.
The platform is already being used in more than 20 healthcare facilities in Botswana. It has registered over 25,000 patients and captured more than 100,000 consultations over the past 12 months, giving the business an established base of provider activity.
Providers pay as consultations take place. This lowers the barrier to adoption and links revenue to patient volume. Its existing medical-aid claims integration works with South African switching infrastructure, giving the team a practical starting point for expansion into South Africa and the wider SADC region.
